Does the Information Counter provide support in foreign languages?

Although times may vary, at the Information Counter at the Asahikawa International Center we have support staff members who speak English, Spanish, and Korean.

Is parking available?

Unfortunately, we have no designated parking spaces for the Asahikawa International Center. We request that you use a standard parking space in the vicinity.

As a general rule, sites are free to post links to this homepage. However, we refuse to be associated with sites where content or operations are against public order and morals, or are in violation of the law.

I want to learn a foreign language. What kinds of courses do you have?

The Asahikawa International Committee provides courses for languages spoken by our sister/friendship cities (Korean, Russian, and Chinese). 
Details regarding language courses are posted on "Asahibashi" (Asahikawa City Public Relations Magazine) and our center's website. Please feel free to apply for the language courses when they are available.

With the Asahikawa International Committee, anyone with enthusiasm for international exchange can register as “international volunteers” and participate in various grassroots activities.
First, please read the following and if you have any questions, please contact us. Also, because an interview is necessary for registration, we cannot process registrations over the phone or email. We appreciate your understanding.

How to use the Bulletin Board

In case you would like to post information regarding international exchange on the bulletin board, please come to the our Information Counter.
Anyone with a user card can use the bulletin board. However, there are certain requirements, so please contact us after reviewing this information.

I want to hold an exhibition at the center. Can I rent a place or a facility?

At the Asahikawa International Center we allow the renting of “Exhibition/Exchange Spaces.” International exchange and Consumer Lifestyle Center events, conventions, marriage counseling, public center activities/ public exhibitions, exchange, and public awareness events can be exhibited freely. However, please be aware that we do not allow use for commercial purposes. Use of the space is freealong with our available equipment.

Can I use the Internet?

The Asahikawa International Center has FREE WI-FI available for use.

I want to distribute leaflets at the Asahikawa International Center.

The Asahikawa International Center is a public space in Asahikawa. For that reason, items posted in the information corner focus on citizen activities related to international exchange and foreign resident support. Please be aware that we do not accept fliers for commercial , political or religious purposes.

I would like to use the Common Meeting Rooms.

Please read these terms regarding the Asahikawa International Center’s Common Meeting Rooms,  and contact us.
Generally, we rent to groups connected to the City of Asahikawa and its residents' international exchange organizations. As there are some conditions for use, please provide your organization name and purpose for use. In some cases, rental requests may be denied. 
※Please be aware that we cannot extend the use of common meeting rooms to sales meetings for commercial purposes and regular company meetings and events.

Do you have books where I can learn about foreign countries?

Also, in addition to newsletters published by international exchange and cooperation groups, we have magazines, newspapers and travel guides to help one learn more about international affairs.  Books are available for borrowing (with some exceptions).

Inquiries from Foreign Residents

I want to become friends with Japanese people.

The Asahikawa International Committee hosts various exchange events with participants from all over the world. Please feel free to participate at one of AICs events! 
The Asahikawa International Center does not introduce people directly. .
However, please feel free to use our Bulletin Board where you can post a recruitment for language exchange partners.  
Please write your information on the designated form hand it in to the Information Counter for processing. Language partner requests from foreign residents and events can also be posted on the board.

AIC cannot directly refer foreign residents to employment opportunities, but please feel free to use the Asahikawa International Center bulletin board to exchange information with local and foreign residents

The Asahikawa International Committee has the “Japanese for Foreign Learners” course. We offer consultation for individual lessons with Japanese language volunteers in Asahikawa. Please contact our office for details.
